When Weddings Aren't "Weddings"

I was scrolling thru my personal Instagram the other day, and came across a post on the Real Simple account. "Micro Weddings" caught my eye. And then I read on and wondered if I am losing my mind. Here is a screenshot.

This is what I don't understand. When did EVERYTHING we do, drink, eat, buy, etc start being classified or categorized?

For as long as I've been alive, there have been extravagant weddings. And not so extravagant weddings. And elopements. And spur of the moment Vegas weddings.

Isn't a wedding, just that? A wedding?

Why are we now attaching a word like "micro" to weddings? To call attention to budget? To make is seem small(er)? Less(er)? Below average, as implied in the post? Help me here.

I guess I am from the mindset that we are all equal no matter what. My sell is based on an individual need, not a label. I will work just as hard on a blowout wedding as I will on a couple who wants to elope. And for me, I don't see the need to classify my brides. Or their weddings.
